Millionaires remain at the top of the area power rankings

By Chris Masse 4 min read

1. Williamsport (5-2): If Williamsport's defense can build off its first half performance against Shamokin, it could be particularly dangerous moving forward. Anthony Manley, Cordoza Minor and Kason Ulmer all are among area sack leaders, combining for 18.

2. Montgomery (6-1): Linebacker Cameron Waltz has played a major resurgence in Montgomery's success the last three years. Now, the senior is inching closer to 100 tackles for a third straight year. He has 71 following last week's 12-tackle performance.

3. Jersey Shore (4-3): Two-way lineman Isaac Shirey has been a game-wrecker in wins at Montoursville and DuBois. The junior leader has produced 5 ½ sacks and eight tackles for loss in those games, also forcing two fumbles.

4. South Williamsport (5-2): Wide receiver Levi Butler did not start playing football until his junior year last fall but already has amassed more than 1,000 career yards. Butler topped that milestone with his three-touchdown performance at Wyalusing and is second among South receivers in the 2000s with 85 catches for 1,045 yards.

5. Montoursville (4-3): Speaking of milestones, Montoursville quarterback Elijah Eck reached two last Friday. The junior signal caller topped both 3,000 career yards and 30 touchdown passes. In 20 career starts, Eck has thrown for 3,039 yards and 31 touchdowns.

6. Lewisburg (4-3): I sense a theme here. Wide receiver Jaylen Walker became just the fifth area player to reach 30 career touchdown catches a week ago, joining Ross Eyer, Jaylen Andrews, Sam Hall and Cayden Hess. His 2,118 yards rank fifth all-time as well.

7. Loyalsock (4-3): Running back Cayden Sones is honoring friend and teammate Ivan Baker in impressive fashion since the former tore his ACL three weeks ago. Sones is running relentless and has produced 275 yards and four touchdowns the past two games.

8. Warrior Run (3-4): Defenders have shown some mighty impressive depth at quarterback. Logan Stevenson was enjoying a breakout season before being injured in Week 4. Jackson Bower and Emiliano Torres have played well in his absence, the three quarterbacks combining for 1,351 yards.

9. Muncy (4-3): Muncy has made the most of its quarterbacks as well. Both Noah Weikle and Noah Walters have gone over 500 yards this season, totaling 1,153 yards and 11 touchdowns. Even better for Muncy is that Weikle is a junior and Walters a freshman.

10. Milton (3-4): Kamryn Wilson moving from quarterback to wide receiver has suddenly given Milton an impressive receiving group. He, Ja'Cori Brown and Jhemzuel Feliciano all have caught multiple touchdowns and generated 799 yards.

11. Canton (4-3): Canton represented itself well at Muncy in a showdown of two teams which are good now and could be even better the next few years. The Warriors have a tough stretch these next three weeks, but also have a shot at hosting a District 4 Class A quarterfinal.

12. Hughesville (2-5): Chase Shrawder has made his biggest headlines as a linebacker, but he's also a hard-nosed runner. Shrawder went over 1,000 career rushing yards last Friday when he ran for a career-high 113 yards. Junior quarterback Nick Stubbs also went over 1,000 career passing yards.

13. Wellsboro (2-5): Following a super defensive performance at Towanda, Wellsboro suddenly looks like it could make some noise these final three weeks of the regular season. Getting quarterback Griffin Morral back sure provided a big boost and he is close to reaching 3,000 career passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards.

14. Cowanesque Valley (2-5): CV certainly faced a huge task last week at four-time defending NTL-I champion Troy but it held up well and totaled the most points against them this season.

15. Central Mountain (0-7): Wildcat all-time leading tackler Kole Corman needs just two tackles tonight to reach 100 for a third straight year. All but 13 of his 373 career tackles have come the last three years, including 22 1/2 for loss.

16. North Penn-Mansfield (0-7): Counting Muncy tonight, North Penn-Mansfield's last three opponents are a combined 16-5. Talk about a steep learning curve for one of the district's youngest teams; one which faces Montgomery next week.

17. Bucktail (0-5): Sophomore quarterback Corbin Pentz is among the area leaders in passer rating. He is averaging 123.4 yards per game, giving him an outside chance at reaching 1,000 for a second straight year despite an eight-game schedule.
