ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Sophomore Elisha Slabach posted 22 points and 11 rebounds and senior Hayden Pardoe, a Central Mountain graduate, posted 21 points and 10 rebounds to pace the Lycoming College men's basketball team, which defeated RIT, 72-57, in the championship game of the Harold J. Brodie Classic on Saturday afternoon.

Lycoming improved to 2-0 as it won its first regular-season tournament title since winning the Dutch Burch Tip-Off in 2018, while RIT fell to 1-1. The Warriors shot 26-for-56 from the floor, held RIT to 20-for-66 shooting, outrebounded the Tigers, 46-34, and finished with 32 points in the paint. The Warriors used a 10-0 run in the first half and an 8-0 run in the second to maintain control.

Slabach, the tournament MVP after averaging 18.0 points and 9.5 rebounds in the two games, went 6 of 7 at the free-throw line en route to a career-high 22 points and his 11 rebounds were a season high. Pardoe, who was named to the all-tournament team, finished with season-highs of 21 points, 10 rebounds and three 3-pointers, leaving him 69 points from 1,000 in his career. Freshman Blake Nagurney added nine points, a season-high seven rebounds and three assists and sophomore Noa'Sosa Friedman recorded eight points, four rebounds and three assists.

Slabach scored the Warriors' first seven points, and Pardoe added two free throws before Slabach's 3-pointer at 11:55 put Lycoming ahead 12-7. RIT worked back within 12-11, but sophomore Ben Dalton, a Jersey Shore graduate, scored inside, junior Gyasi Miller hit a 3-pointer after a steal by junior C.J. Pearson, and the Warriors pushed the margin to 21-13 on a Pardoe dunk and jumper from sophomore Gabriel Buksh. After RIT made it 24-18, Lycoming put together a 10-0 stretch that included 3-pointers from Pardoe at 6:27 and 3:50, along with a Pardoe layup and Nagurney jumper.

RIT scored the next six points, but Pardoe finished a late layup with 13 seconds left to give the Warriors a 36-24 halftime lead.

After Jason Gibbs scored for RIT at 19:39, Nagurney answered with a layup and free throw at 19:21, and the Warriors built the advantage to 46-30 on Pardoe's transition 3-pointer off a Friedman assist at 17:04. Nagurney's tip-in later made it 48-32 before RIT worked back to 48-37 on Brody Brown's 3-pointer and Jacob Works' layup, but Lycoming responded with an 8-0 stretch, getting baskets from Pardoe, Friedman, Pearson and Nagurney to move ahead 56-37 at 11:16.

The teams traded scoring through the middle of the half before Friedman and Slabach scored inside on consecutive Warriors possessions for a 62-43 lead at 6:00. RIT later got two free throws from Works and a Nigel Pierman dunk to make it 62-50 at 2:51. The Warriors answered at the foul line through Friedman and Slabach, and Slabach added a late layup and four more free throws as Lycoming closed out the win.
