Glacier Pools Preserve honors contributor with trail naming

Hiking, it seems, is the new “thing” to do, and with wooded forests and rocky terrains surrounding the Pennsylvania landscapes, now is an excellent time of year to see the rejuvenation of nature. Two spots with less than 20 minutes of driving time from Muncy are Jacoby Falls and Glacier Pools Preserve. Both are prime examples of hiking here in northcentral Pennsylvania: Jacoby Falls trail off Wallis Run Road at Loyalsockville while Huntersville lays claim to Glacier Pools Preserve.

Last month, a trail dedicated to the late Chad Peeling was announced on the preserve’s website. Peeling, son of Clyde Peeling, of Reptiland fame, passed away last year following complications from a 3-year battle with brain cancer. He assisted in developing the preserve and also created and donated nature signage. Designated as Chad’s Trail, the path loops around the perimeter of the preserve, about 4.5 miles. The preserve is open year-round.
