City police are investigating an early-morning shooting that occurred downtown on Sunday, sending one person to the hospital.
Officers responded to the 300 block of Court Street about 1:45 a.m. for a report of shots fired. No one was found and there was no evidence of a shooting, police said.
However, about an hour later, they received a call from the Geisinger medical facility at the Pennsdale interchange that emergency room staff there was treating a gunshot victim who showed up.
Police responded to the hospital to question the victim, who apparently was hit near Court Street. His injuries did not appear to be life threatening, police said.
"Officers and agents are actively investigating and following up on leads," city police said on Sunday.
