LOGANTON – One person is dead following a five-vehicle crash near an active construction zone along Interstate 80 West near mile marker 186.6 Monday night.

State police at Lamar were dispatched to the crash in Greene Township, Clinton County at about 7 p.m. where four commercial vehicles and one fully loaded 55-passenger bus were involved in the collision.

According to PSP’s release, the crash occurred as unit one rear ended unit 2, which had slowed down for construction backlog.

This caused a domino effect when unit 2 struck unit 3 the bus causing unit three to strike unit four and unit four to strike unit five.

A passenger in unit one, of Brooklyn, N.Y., sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by Clinton County Coroner Zach Hanna. No name has been released at this time and police suspect the deceased was not wearing a seatbelt.
