After new evidence came to light, the Lycoming County District Attorney’s Office this week filed 75 additional charges against accused sex offender and former Muncy resident Marcus McDaniel.

Jailed earlier this year on more than a half a dozen counts of sexually abusing a female minor under 10 in the borough, McDaniel, 36, moved to the Chester County community of Coatesville in June. He was released from jail in mid-April after being released on $150,000 bail.

Members of the U.S. Marshals Service raided his home about 7 a.m. Friday on an arrest warrant filed by county Detective Loretta Clark.

Clark initially charged McDaniel on April 1 with allegedly abusing the child sexually during March of this year.

New allegations recently came forward, alleging the sexual abuse started in early February 2021 and lasted 14 months, according to Clark’s latest criminal complaint.

Investigators allege that during those many months, McDaniel engaged in sexual acts with the child.

While she was being molested, the child “would start screaming” and crying, but she would stop after McDaniel “would whisper something into her ear,” Clark wrote in an affidavit filed with the new charges.

It was alleged that the child was molested in a Main Street apartment in Muncy, Clark said.

Arrested in April with McDaniel was Michelle Strayer, 33, of Muncy. She was charged with intimidation or obstruction of child abuse cases, sexually exploitation of a child and unlawful contact with a minor and related offenses. She has since waived her hearing and is awaiting trial.

In the new complaint against McDaniel, Clark alleges McDaniel solicited the woman to help him make arrangements whereby he could abuse the girl.

“If you love me, you’ll let me have her,” McDaniel allegedly told Strayer, referring to the child, Clark wrote in the court document.

While investigators were investigating this case, it is alleged that McDaniel urged Strayer to try to convince the child that she had dreamt the abuse, Clark said in the new criminal complaint.

No new charges have been filed against Strayer.

Once McDaniel was in custody, Clark and county Detective Calvin Irvin brought him before District Judge William Solomon to face 56 new felonies, including 15 counts each of rape of a child. involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with minor and three counts of criminal solicitation.

He also has been charged with 19 misdemeanors, including 15 counts of indecent exposure.

“These are 75 very serious charges. Bail is denied,” the judge told McDaniel, who was sent directly to the Lycoming County Prison.
