Rescue underway at World’s End State Park

Update – The woman, believed to be in her early 20s, was lifted out of the gorge at 9:40 a.m. and being flown to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
ENTENSIVE ROPE-RESCUE OPERATION UNDERWAY IN SULLIVAN COUNTY -Teams of emergency responders were working Sunday morning at Worlds End State Park in Forks Township, where a young woman reportedly fell about 50 feet from a waterfall known as Cottonwood Falls near Cabin Bridge Road, according to reports at the scene.
The woman is alive and Geisinger’s Life Flight helicopter is there, waiting to take her to a trauma center once firefighters are able to load her into a Stokes basket and lift her out. The area where she fell reportedly is inaccessible to all-terrain vehicles.
A task force of specially-trained rescuers with specialized equipment was working to bring her out of the gorge.
It was reported that the hiker suffered head injuries. Firefighters were initially dispatched to the state park at 6:40 a.m.

Firefighters from Forksville, Hillsgrove, Eagles Mere, Laporte and Mildred are also there.
