Hughesville area fire leaves family of three homeless

HUGHESVILLE – A family of three was left homeless Wednesday night when fire ravaged their mobile home at 101 Boak Ave. in Wolf Township, according to Hughesville Fire Chief Dan Dorman.
Flames broke out on or near the porch on the outside of the home about 8:30 p.m., Dorman said. A man and his wife, along with the couple’s daughter, lived in the property.
The wife, who suffers from a medical condition “was briefly trapped” in the home, but was quickly brought out by her husband and two firefighters, Assistant Fire Chief Allen McKinley and firefighter-paramedic Josh Dorman, the chief’s son.
“There were several oxygen cylinders just outside the front door that exploded, the chief said.
It took about 15 minutes to bring the fire under control.
The family’s name was not released. The home was a total loss, and the couple, who was staying with friends, did not have insurance, Dorman said.
Because of her medical condition, the wife has been hospitalized.
A state police fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire. Dorman said there appeared nothing suspicious about it.
Besides Hughesville, firefighters from Picture Rocks, Muncy Area, Pennsdale and Montgomery responded.
