Multiple calls of wind gust caused incidents occurred Sunday morning around 10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
Williamsport Regional Airport saw gusts from 31 mph on up to 50 mph.
The wind advisory would last to 5 p.m. Sunday.
John Brady Drive eastbound lane in Muncy Township was temporarily shut down and blocked due to high wind gusts knocking over utility poles. At least eight poles were knocked over along the road, according to reports from Muncy Township Fire Company and fire police officers.
Muncy Area Fire Company also responded to the 200 block of West Penn Street for a tree on wires.
Power was out briefly but restored by PPL for Tules Run housing development.
Pole and wires down in the 400 block Village Road in Muncy Township. The was temporarily shut to traffic.
In Clinton Township,
Route 405 and Armstrong Road had a tree down. In that township, the 100 block of Brouse Road had a tree on wires.
In the 700 block of Klump Road in Hepburn Township a tree was down.
In the 400 block of Northway Road Ext. a tree and wires down.
In the 400 block of Miller Road in Fairfield Township a brush fire caused by a wire down.
After 1 p.m., the wind gusts continued to cause trees to damage wires.
A tree was on wires in the 700 block of Cemetery Road in
Picture Rocks; the 5200 block Clarkstown Road, a tree was leaning and endangering the roadway.
Just before 1 p.m. at 1720 Liberty Drive in Loyalsock Township wires were smoking and in the 1000 block of Elimsport Road in Clinton Township a tree was in the roadway.
Accompanying the first several hours of
these strong, gusty winds also were broken lines of snow showers and brief heavy snow squalls that could generate
near whiteout conditions and coat the ground with between one
half inch and one inch of snow in less than 30 minutes, according to the National Weather Service in State College.
Wind chill readings will dip to between 5 below and 5 above zero late
Sunday and early Monday and again early Wednesday.
In between these very cold mornings, a weak coastal storm will
likely bring a light snowfall late Monday night into Tuesday.
