19-year-old charged with bringing BB gun to school in Jersey Shore

A Williamsport teen has been charged with having a firearm on school property after he allegedly told students that he had the weapon on him while at the Jersey Shore Area Senior High School on May 13, according to court documents.
Interviewed by Lycoming Regional police the next day, a juvenile stated that 19-year-old Diego Sanchez had opened up his backpack and shown him a handgun, which Sanchez described as a 9mm, an affidavit said.
Sanchez allegedly told the student that he again had the gun on him the following day, and that he was going to “bring the heat.”
A second juvenile told police that Sanchez had shown him the grip of a gun concealed in his backpack during breakfast in the school cafeteria on May 13. This interaction was captured on the school’s surveillance system, and although no gun was visible in the footage, Sanchez could be seen showing the student something in his backpack, police said.
The next day, Sanchez allegedly showed the gun to the juvenile, telling him that he was, “having the heat on him,” adding that “it was for a student who is lacking.”
Questioned at his residence, 8345 South Route 44, Sanchez allegedly admitted to bringing the weapon to school, stating that it was a BB gun, and repeated that it was for a student who was “lacking.”
During a consensual search of Sanchez’s backpack, police discovered a black Phantom BB handgun. A magazine was not present within the weapon, an affidavit said.
District Judge Denise Dieter arraigned Sanchez on charges of possession of a weapon on school property and terroristic threats.
