Williamsport police conducting death investigation on West Fourth Street

Numerous city police officers respond to an apartment building at 1211 W. Fourth St., where a tenant was found dead at about 10:45 a.m. PHILIP HOLMES/Sun-Gazette
Yellow crime tape was put around a three-story apartment building at 1211 W. Fourth St. late Monday morning after one of the tenants was found dead in his unit, investigators at the scene confirmed.
The adult male’s body was discovered in a second-floor apartment by his landlord about 10:45 a m., police said.
The landlord told a 911 dispatcher that he believed the tenant had been stabbed to death.
Paramedics and police rushed to the eight-unit apartment house to investigate a report of an expired person, believed to be in his 30s. When emergency responders arrived on the scene, they confirmed the tenant was dead.
Several additional police officers, along with two agents and three deputy coroners soon arrived on the scene.

The tenant’s cause of death has not yet been determined. No information was released about the extent of his injuries or how they were inflicted. It also was unknown how long he had been dead.
