Roaring Branch man charged with assault

Douglas Ray Vroman, 66, of Roaring Branch, faces several charges, following a physical altercation in the 200 block of Green Hill Road in McIntyre Township, a state police affidavit said.

Vroman allegedly engaged in a brief scuffle with the alleged victim around noon on July 27, 2025, during which Vroman kicked the alleged victim in the genitals before being wrestled to the ground.

The fighting reignited half an hour later when Vroman allegedly first struck the alleged victim in the chest or head with a 22 caliber rifle, before striking him in the head, breaking the wooden stock of the gun, court documents.

Injuries to the alleged victim, as well as a large amount of blood on his face and shirt were observed by police. Additionally, the alleged victim suffered a zygomatic fracture to his face, fractured rib bones and lacerations above his left eye and top of his head, authorities said.

Vroman was arraigned by District Judge William Solomon on charges of making terroristic threats, possession of an instrument of crime, simple assault and aggravated assault and incarcerated at the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $75,000.
