Driver killed in I-180 crash identified

PHILIP HOLMES/Sun-Gazette The wreckage of a Nissan Rogue along Brushy Ridge Road in Fairfield Township after going airborne an estmated 100 yards off of Interstate 180 West, killing the Texas driver and injuring his female passager.
The driver killed in Tuesday night’s violent crash on Interstate 180 West outside of Montoursville was William Scott, 71, of Dallas, Texas, according to state police and Lycoming County Coroner Charles E. Kiessling Jr. The passenger in Scott’s rented Nissan Rogue, Carolyn Castro, 70, also of Dallas, Texas, remains hospitalized with serious injuries in the intensive care unit at UPMC Williamsport, investigators said.
Scott lost control of the SUV that went airborne for about 100 yards before plunging at least 60 feet to an embankment below on Brushy Ridge Road in Fairfield Township about 6:30 p.m., police said.
