Following a preliminary hearing Monday, Lawrence Elmore, 36, of Philadelphia, was held for court on felony state police charges of forgery and theft by deception, according to court records at Whiteman’s office. It is alleged that in early September 2023, Elmore somehow got a hold of a $1,375 check Dill Buttons of America at 50 Choate Circle in Fairfield Township sent to K.C. Larson in Williamsport, it was stated in an affidavit. Elmore not only changed the intended recipient for the check from K.C. Larson to himself, but he also altered the amount of the check to $33,000, police alleged. Elmore remains free on $15,000 bail.
