Jayson Roselle Applewhite, who turned 18 in May, was picked up Tuesday morning in Latrobe and brought here to face charges for his alleged involvement in last year’s shooting in the 1500 block of Randall Circle that took place on March 3, according to state police.

Investigators allege he was part of a group of males who traveled to Randall Cicle that night with the intention of firing shots at a home in retaliation for the fatal shooting the night before of Ahmeen Palmer.

Palmer, 15, was shot to death in the parking lot of TGI Fridays on East Third Street in Loyalsock Township on March 2, 2024. Ja’hsir Legare, 18, of Philadelphia, has been charged with criminal homicide in this case and is awaiting trial.

No one was injured in the Randall Circle shooting, but a teenage boy was alone in the house when bullets were fired into the home about 9:50 p.m., police said.

Applewhite, who has been at a juvenile detention center in Latrobe since about June, is the third person arrested in this case.

The alleged gunman, Damier A. Sams-Glover, 21, of Williamsport, was arrested on July 28, and accused co-consporator, Kharu Rorie, 16, a junior at Williamsport Area High School who is being tried as an adult, was arrested Thursday. Rorie, who is free on bail, faces five counts of conspiracy while Sams-Glover, who is jailed, faces charges of aggravated assault and related offenses.

Like Rorie, Applewhile, whose last known local address was of the 500 block of Memorial Avenue, has been charged with five counts of conspiracy, including conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, discharging a firearm into an occupied structure and criminal mischief. He was committed to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $75,000 bail.

In an affidavit, police said the teen who was in the house at the time told them he was doing laundry and “believed he heard glass breaking in the living room.”

About 10 seconds after hearing the glass break, he heard “the thud of several more rounds passing through a door,” it was stated in the court document.

Police recovered a total of 10 shell casings at the scene. The teen had no idea “why someone would want to shoot at his residence,” the affidavit stated.

Starting at $2.99/week.
