Two face charges in separate domestic disturbances

During a domestic disturbance with his ex-girlfriend in the 100 block of Rose Street on May 26, James M. Confer pulled her into an office, locked the door and held her against a wall momentarily, refusing to let her leave, city police alleged in an affidavit. The woman managed to unlock the door and escape while a third person entered the office and kept Confer, 48, of 438 N. Shaffer Hill Road, Cogan Station, distracted, police said. Charged with false imprisonment, simple assault and harassment, Confer was arraigned before District Judge Christian Frey and was recently held for court on all three charges following a preliminary hearing. He remains locked up in lieu of $15,000 bail.

In another case, Bret Snyder, 64, 599 Lyons Barr Road, Montoursville, has been charged with strangulation, simple assault and harassment for scratching his brother’s face and choking him during a confrontation over access to a lawn mower on Route 87 in Fairfield Township on July 10, state police alleged in an affidavit. Snyder has since waived his preliminary hearing before District Judge Gary Whiteman and is free on $25,000 bail.
