Man injured in Woodward Township truck crash

PHILIP HOLMES/Sun-Gazette

A man suffered minor injuries when the utility body truck he was driving crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer truck in the travel (right) lane of Route 220 South at 1st Street in Woodward Township about 6:50 a.m. Monday, according to state police. The injured Clinton County driver was pinned in the wreckage for about 15 minutes. He was taken to an area hospital by Jersey Shore Area EMS. Woodward Township volunteer firefighters also responded to the crash.

Police said the tractor-trailer truck driver, who was not hurt, was slowing down for a school bus that was stopping.

Following the impact, both trucks traveled about 250-300 feet, landing in the berm. Southbound traffic was backed up to the city-township line until one lane was re-opened. Both lanes were re-opened once PennDOT cleaned up much of the diesel fuel that spilled on the highway.

Starting at $2.99/week.
