Tractor trailer crash closes both directions of I-180 in Northumberland County

All four lanes of Interstate 180 in Delaware Township, Northumberland County, were closed Friday, following an early morning crash involving a tractor trailer, state police said in a news release.
The crash occurred at 7:42 am, when a 2004 Peterbilt Truck Tractor Trailer, traveling in the west-bound lane struck the Eighth Street Drive bridge, the release said.
At the time of the incident, the truck was hauling 23 tons of stone, with the dump trailer elevated.
Stone, vehicle debris and wires were strewn across all four lanes of the interstate, which are expected to be closed for a significant amount of time, state police said.
The driver of the truck, David Wright, of Muncy, was uninjured in the crash, authorities said.
PennDOT is offering assistance at the scene, and structural engineers were contacted for evaluation of the Eighth Street Drive bridge.
Detours are currently in place at Susquehanna Trail and Church Road.
Eighth Street Drive is projected to be closed for the foreseeable future, according to the news release.
