Williamsport police have charged Phillip Rodney Johnson, 45, of 816 High St., Williamsport, with strangulation and simple assault after an alleged victim accused him of attacking her following an argument over the usage of a laundry basket in the 800 block of High Street in the city, according to an affidavit.

Johnson allegedly first poked the alleged victim in the head with his finger, then, after she had separated himself from her, grabbed her by the neck and pushed her into the refrigerator, she told investigators.

Responding officers noted redness and two deeper red color line bruises on the accuser’s neck.

Arraigned before District Judge Christian Frey, Johnson was remanded to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.
