Williamsport City Council appears to be leaning toward a decision on condemned City Hall by considering selling the property and eventually leasing space inside the historic structure completed in 1891.

Councilwoman Liz Miele said Thursday at the meeting a more detailed discussion on a path forward ideally should be done in executive session.

Councilman Jon Mackey said there will be another fall and winter to heat the building, a cost officials said was $20,000.

Scott Livermore, director of Public Works, said the thermostat should be at 65 degrees.

The Williamsport Bureau of Police are using the building to store evidence and for the weight room.

Public Financial Management (PFM) of Philadelphia, a consulting firm assisting the city on its five-year strategic management plan, recommended the city sell the property.

The Sun-Gazette had an editorial on the unresolved City Hall matter on Wednesday.

This is a developing story.
