MONTGOMERY – A brush fire Wednesday afternoon on Chevy Lane, just off Route 54, jumped the property line and consumed two cars and a boat before spreading to the corner of a large two-story garage, according to Clinton Township Fire Chief Todd Winder.
The boat, the cars and garage are all owned by Clinton Township Supervisor Donald Wagner. The garage is behind his home on Route 54, about a mile east of Route 15.
The fire, caused by unattended careless burning on an adjoining property to Wagner’s, broke out about 1:45 p.m., Winder said.
“Prevailing winds from the west fanned the fire that raced up the hill, in the direction of the garage. The fire was fueled by the cars and boat before it started to burn one corner of the garage, Winder explained.
The fire was under control in about 20 minutes. For the most part, damage was contained to just the one area of the 30×60-foot garage, where Wagner, who restores cars, had several vehicles, Winder said.

One township firefighter was taken by ambulance to UPMC Williamsport to get treated for an ankle injury, Winder said.
