The identity of the driver killed in a Thursday evening crash near Route 44 and Morgan Valley Road in Nippenose Township has been released by Lycoming County Coroner Charles Kiessling Jr.

19-year-old Lucas Smithgall, of Pearson Road, Jersey Shore, was killed when he lost control of his vehicle as he traveled south on Route 44, and crossed into the path of a truck traveling in the northbound lane, the press release said.

Smithgall was pronounced dead at the scene due to multiple blunt force injuries.

Three occupants of the truck were transported to UPMC Williamsport for treatment, Kiessling said in the release.

Emergency personnel responding to the crash included Antes Forte and Jersey Shore Fire and EMS, as well as Lycoming Regional Police and state police.
