Police investigating deadly shooting in South Williamsport

State police are leading the investigation into a deadly shooting that occurred Saturday morning inside a home in the 700 block of Fairmont Avenue, just south of East Seventh Avenue, in South Williamsport.
The public is not in any danger from the incident, police confirmed.
The shooting occurred about 9:40 a.m.
At one point, there were nearly a dozen state troopers at the scene, including Lt. Christine Fye, head of the Criminal Investigation Division at the Montoursville barracks.
South Williamport firefighters and UPMC paramedics were dispatched to the home for a shooting. Police officers reportedly were already at the at the house when gunfire erupted.

State trooper said the gunshot victim was not a member of law enforcement.
State police declined to make any comment when approached by a reporter outside the home other than to say this was a death investigation. A news release was expected to be provided later.
As part of the investigation, a state trooper assigned to the department’s Reconstruction
Unit operated a drone above the property.
Two deputy county coroners arrived on the the home about 11 a.m. and pronounced the victim dead. They will take the body to the Forensic Center
