Woman killed in crash near Lairdsville
LAIRDSVILLE – A 33-year-old Franklin Township woman was killed Wednesday afternoon when her SUV crashed into several trees at German and Bomboy roads, according emergency responders and a deputy county coroner.
“Road conditions at the time were very slick,” said Lairdsville Fire Chief William Gordner, who extricated the woman from the wreckage when he arrived on the scene. The time of the crash was about 3:15 p.m.
State police were leading the investigation into the accident. Her identity was expected to be released once all family members had been notified.
Emergency responders immediately began performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation on her and continued those efforts as she was loaded into a Muncy Area fire company ambulance and rushed to UPMC Muncy, where she was pronounced dead by medical staff at 4:19 p.m., a deputy coroner said.
It was believed that the woman lost control of her SUV as she was descending a hill on German Road, officials said.
Besides Lairdsville and Muncy Area, Unityville firefighters also responded to the crash.
