Man jailed after Montoursville shooting

Drummond is led into his arraignment on Wednesday. PHILIP HOLMES/Sun-Gazette

Johnnie A. Drummond, 43, of Norwood, Delaware County, was arraigned Wednesday afternoon on state police charges of gravely wounding a woman when he shot her in her Montoursville apartment during a lengthy hostage situation overnight Tuesday.

Charged with attempted homicide and related offenses, Drummond remained mum during the arraignment, refusing to answer any questions presented by District Judge William Solomon. The questions were routine and are part of every arraignment.

An affidavit filed with the charges stated that Drummond threatened to kill the woman and himself during an earlier incident that was never reported to police until after the shooting.

Solomon denied Drummond bail and ordered him to the Lycoming County Prison. Court records revealed that Drummond was convicted of felony kidnapping and robbery in October 2009 as well as escape two months before that.
