Driver ejected in Woodward Township crash
PHILIP HOLMES/Sun-Gazette
Southbound traffic out of Williamsport was slow going for hundreds of motorists on Friday after an SUV and a KIA passenger car collided on Route 220 in the southbound lanes at First Street in Woodward Township, injuring both drivers, one seriously, about 3:15 p m., according to state police. Traffic was backed up for more than a mile.
The driver of the Kia was ejected, landing next to his demolished vehicle, according to township volunteer firefighters. He was rushed by ambulance to UPMC Williamsport, where the other driver also was being treated. An off-duty paramedic who either witnessed the collision or came upon it moments after it occurred alerted 911 on his fire radio.
