Imagine a place about an hour’s drive from Williamsport that has more than 50 hands-on interactive exhibits for children of all ages.

It is just a short trip to the town of Bloomsburg where the Bloomsburg Children’s Museum offers a diverse range of sustainable and engaging learning opportunities for children of all ages.

Located at 2 W. 7th St., the museum is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

How long has the museum been in existence?

“We are have been around over 42 years now,” said Shelby Kellner, assistant director.

“In our current location it has been over 24 years and before that we were a traveling museum,” she said.

What is the mission at the Bloomsburg Children’s Museum?

“The mission of The Children’s Museum is to enrich the lives of people in the region by fostering a lifelong love of learning through enjoyable, interactive programs and exhibits that bring out the imagination of every child and the child in every visitor,” Kellner responded.

Asked what she likes about being museum assistant director, Keller replied: “Getting to create meaningful, hands-on experiences for kids and families while supporting a passionate team.

“I especially enjoy building exhibits and creating programs that spark curiosity and creativity. Every day is different, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see our community come together through learning and play.”

Through the museum’s year-round interactive exhibits, carefully curated programming, and active community outreach initiatives, the staff there strives to ignite curiosity and inspire exploration in the sciences, arts, and humanities.

As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, the museum is driven by a dedicated team and overseen by a passionate board of directors, with invaluable support from its committed volunteers.

As Kellner alluded to, since 2002, the museum has been a proud fixture in Bloomsburg, serving as a beacon for education and creativity in our community and beyond.
