14-year-old arrested in Jersey Shore after allegedly stabbing another teen with box cutter

JERSEY SHORE- A 14-year-old boy has been arrested on assault-related charges after stabbing another teenager with a box cutter on Sunday afternoon in the 100 block of Broad Street, Lycoming Regional police said. The injured 17-year-old male suffered lacerations to his upper body, including one to his neck, Police Chief Christopher Kriner said. Both teens live in the borough, he added.

The assault occurred outside in the 100 block of Broad Street about 2:10 p.m., Kriner said, adding that offers were on the scene within two minutes upon being dispatched. He did not know what prompted the attack which involved a box cutter that officers recovered.

The 17-year-old was treated at Geisinger Jersey Shore Hospital for his injuries and is recovering from home, Kriner said. The 14-year-old, who was treated at the hospital for a minor cut to his hand, will be petitioned into juvenile court on charges of felony aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering, possession of an instrument of a crime, disorderly conduct and harassment. Upon being discharged from the hospital, the teen was turned over to county juvenile probation officers. Police did not know how he sustained his injury.
