Williamsport City Council voted Thursday to accept an invitation for bids to sell the vacant City Hall building on West Fourth Street.
The vote was 5-2 with Councilwoman Liz Miele and Councilman Adam Yoder against.
The invitation for bids that seeks the highest bidder gives council and the administration the right to reject bids that come in within 60 days for sale of the historic structure at 245 W. Fourth St.
The building has been condemned since late summer, early fall in 2021 due to water damage from a leak in the roof and gutter system and, later that December, when a pipe burst spilling water on several floors.
The invitation for bids and/or deed will have language that the building, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, cannot be razed.
This is a developing story.
