Driver who eluded police multiple times finally in custody

Motorist Vanessa Vega, 37, formerly of Lawrenceville, George, but now living in Queens, N.Y., has been jailed on a felony charge of fleeing and recklessly endangering for a pursuit that began on Route 15 in Armstrong Township about on May 24 and ended at an undisclosed location in New York State, according to state police at the Montoursville barracks. The pursuit in Lycoming County began about 10 a.m. when a state trooper spotted Vega driving north on Route 15 in a blue 2010 Toyota Rav4, it was stated in an affidavit. The trooper learned that Vega had earlier eluded troopers in the Milton and Bloomsburg areas so he began pursuing her and activating his cruiser’s emergency lights and siren. The pursuit continued through South Williamsport and into the city before the trooper terminated his involvement.

Yet the same trooper soon spotted Vega traveling on Route 180, where a second trooper joined the pursuit and chased her into New York State, where state troopers picked up the pursuit and eventually took her into custody, police said. “She drove recklessly to the point of endangering the lives of other drivers and pedestrians multiple times,” a trooper wrote in a criminal complaint. Already incarcerated in Columbia County Prison on other criminal charges, Vega was arraigned Monday via video before District Judge William Solomon and recommitted in lieu of an additional $100,000 bail.
