Montoursville Walmart evacuated

The Walmart located at 1015 N. Loyalsock Ave. in Montoursville, was evacuated shortly after 3:30 p.m. Friday what has initially been deemed a "fire-related" incident.

At about 3:40 p.m., a command post was set up in the parking lot near Subway across from the entrance, according to scanner reports.

Employees say they were told to evacuate when a threat was called in.

The nature of that threat has not yet been verified by authorities.

"They just made us leave the store," a customer said.

"A store employee told us there was a threat. They told us to get in our vehicles and either go home or out towards Wendy's," the customer said.

The parking lot between the two buildings was shut down, as fire police assisted with traffic control.

Official details were as of press time, with a police official at the scene only confirming to the Sun-Gazette that customers and staff were evacuated from the building.

A sweep of the building and parking lot was completed just before 7 p.m., after which employees were expected to return to the store.
