The identity of the man taken into custody following an early morning shooting Saturday in Old Lycoming Township has been released by Lycoming Regional Police in a post to www.crimewatch.com.
At 9:40 a.m., 26-year-old Levi Gage Johnson contacted 911 to report that he had shot his brother inside a residence in the 1900 block of Lycoming Creek Road, the post said.
Johnson allegedly stated he had done so in self defense.
The victim was located outside of the residence, suffering a gunshot wound to the chest, and was transported to UPMC Williamsport for treatment.
He later left the hospital on his own volition, contrary to physicians' recommendations, the crimewatch post said.
"Witness statements and Johnson's own account indicate that Reynolds entered Johnson's bedroom in an aggressive manner, initiated a confrontation and blocked the doorway," the post said.
Johnson allegedly admitted that he did not attempt to contact emergency assistance prior to drawing his firearm, chambering a round and firing at the victim.
Following an investigation, police charged Johnson with aggravated assault, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.
Following arraignment, Johnson was remanded to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $200,000 bail.
