State police respond to standoff in Newberry

By From staff reports 1 min read

For the second time in two weeks a person has barricaded themselves in a residence in the Newberry section of Williamsport. Since early Thursday morning state police and their SERT team have been at the scene near Memorial and Dewey Avenues.

It was just 10-days ago, Oct. 12, that team members used non-lethal means to force 28-year-old Dominic Reynolds from his home at 2226 Newberry St., ending a 12-hour standoff about 12:30 p.m. No shots were ever fired.

Reynolds remains jailed in the Lycoming County Prison on no bail on state police charges of terroristic threats and related offenses.

This latest standoff is several blocks north of the earlier one.

Trooper Sara Barrett, a public information officer at Troop F, is at the scene.

She declined to release any details until the incident “has been resolved.”

She did say the “incident has been contained” by members of the Special Emergency Response Team.

Another source told the Sun-Gazette that the person believed to be in the home is a woman who is being sought by state police for questioning about a recent fire.

Starting at /week.
