Williamsport police have charged 45-year-old Jessica Sue Bucher with abusing the 911 system after she allegedly called the emergency line 13 times over a ten-day span for non-emergency purposes, court documents said.

On Aug. 13, Bucher, of 620 Pine St., Second Floor, contacted 911 to report a theft, and then called a second time to ask for a "nicer officer," at which point, she was warned that she would be arrested if she continued to call 911 without an emergency.

She was again warned on Aug. 16, however, the next day, she allegedly called 911 twice to report a theft and requested police bring her cigarettes, court filings said.

On Aug. 18, Bucher allegedly called 911, advising that she was "feeling violent because she knows if she says that, the police respond and they often times have cigarettes, which she needs."

During a second call, Bucher stated that she continued to call because she wanted to be arrested, police said in an affidavit. On Aug. 19, Bucher allegedly again contacted 911, this time to ask police to retrieve a backpack from her apartment and bring iut to her at the hospital, less than a month later.

Bucher was arraigned by District Judge Aaron Biichle, and released on $5,000 bail.
