Mount Carmel edges South Williamsport in playoff thriller

South Williamsport gave Mount Carmel a battle on the road but a game-winning basket with 3.4 seconds remaining ended its season. The Tornaodes defeated South, 53-51 and earned a spot in Friday's District 4 Class AAA quarterfinals against defending state champion Loyalsock. Lee Habalar scored a game-high 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds for South, concluding a strong season. Most spectators who filled up the Catholic Community Center bleachers Monday erupted as Davion Hill threw down a highlight-reel fourth-quarter dunk. What many might have missed and/or forgotten was what created that dunk. Bloomsburg hands Loyalsock first league loss in four years

Less than 90 seconds remained Saturday night when Ron Insinger started lifting some starters. That has been a norm for 48 seasons at Loyalsock where the Lancers have made winning an art form.
