The Lock Haven University men’s basketball team opened its season with a 75-70 win over visiting Nyack College on Tuesday night. The Bald Eagles and Warriors were in a close battle throughout the game and Nyack took a slender 37-35 lead into the break. As soon as the siren went off at the OAL Sports Complex at Palmyra High School on Saturday, the Mounties' bench swarmed the 11 players on the field around midfield. CATAWISSA--The offensive line surged, backs ran hard and South Williamsport did exactly what it hoped, consistently moving the chains and chewing up the clock. South ran 36 first-half plays Saturday at Southern Columbia and the Tigers just eight. By game's end that total was 64-17. And yet Southern led by 35 at halftime and won this District 4 Class AA semifinal, 41-7. STATE COLLEGE – A Penn State football season that began with such promise took another turn for the worse Saturday afternoon at Beaver Stadium. Michigan quarterback Cade McNamara hit tight end Erick All dragging across the middle for a 47-yard touchdown that gave the Wolverines a 21-17 lead with 3:29 remaining, and the Michigan defense made it stand up.
