Selinsgrove Hotel wins 6th Hoopie Bar Crawl
Selinsgrove Hotel won the 14th annual Hoopie Bar Crawl trophy for the sixth year in a row by raising more than $400 for Pennsylvania Cystic Fibrosis Inc. (PACFI) recently.
The Hotel topped Bot’s Tavern, which came in second place and BJ’s Steak and Sea House, which came in third.
The trophy goes to the bar that raises the most money for PACFI through selling shamrocks and garnering donations from individuals and businesses.
About 175 people attended the event that raised more than $4,000 for PACFI.
The event was organized 14 years ago by friends and classmates in honor and in memory of Selinsgrove native Sarah Rathfon who died due to cystic fibrosis (CF) in 2000.
More recently, the crawl also honors Selinsgrove’s Todd Eisenhauer who died last year, also due to CF.
Tuxes-N-Tunes, featuring DJ Troy Berkheiser of K&S Music, provided the music at the Moose.
Participants registered at the Moose and then walked to the three bars for one hour each before returning to the Moose to end the evening.
PACFI is an independent, nonprofit, all volunteer 501(c)(3) organization that provides services and supports for Pennsylvania individuals and families affected by CF and funds some of the nation’s best CF research.
