Lock Haven Shoe Bank ready for ‘boot season’

LOCK HAVEN — According to a news release, Nov. 8 is “Just Boots Day.” It’s just for families who have visited the Lock Haven Shoe Bank in August, September or October and aren’t yet eligible to return for new shoes.

Saturday, Nov. 15 is when kids and teens can get both new boots AND shoes. This date is for new families and those who haven’t visited recently.

“All eligible families can bring their kids and teens to get a free new pair of boots in November,” the news release said. “The boot room is well stocked in all whole sizes and many half sizes and is waiting for you.”

The Lock Haven Area Shoe Bank is inside Covenant United Methodist Church at 44 W. Main St., Lock Haven.

Free new hats, scarves and mittens are also available, now that it’s boot season, the news release said. Children and teens up to age 18, or still in high school, are eligible if the family has Compass and if they live anywhere in Clinton County or the Liberty-Curtin Elementary School area. Families who need the service but don’t have Compass may be referred by social agencies, schools, churches, or civic clubs.

Appointments are required, and are available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on both Nov. 8 and Nov. 15 by contacting Diahann at 814-571-5324 any weekday evening from 7 to 9 p.m.

“If you cannot make it, please contact her to reschedule, as she keeps a waiting list,” the news release said. “You may even contact her on the day of your appointment.”

Funding is provided by the Clinton County Community Foundation, an M&T Bank Charitable Foundation grant, civic groups, churches, and individual donors.
