Library continues book club for teens

The James V. Brown Library, 19 E. Fourth St., is continuing its popular teen book club. The Teen Laid-Back Book Club, similar to the Library’s adult Laid-Back Book Club, is open to readers ages 11-18. This program was suggested by the library’s Teen Advisory Group, which saw the need for book clubs for younger audiences. The club is designed to be low-pressure, interactive, and fun. Museum sponsors bus trip to Philly’s Barnes

The Taber Museum is sponsoring a bus trip to The Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia on May 3. The Barnes includes artworks of Renoir, Cezanne, Matisse, Picasso, Van Gogh, Modigliani and so much more. According to a news release, the fee includes round-trip transportation, admission to The Barnes and a box lunch. The public is invited. There is no Taber member discount. Friends’ group celebrates donations

During the February meeting of the Friends of the James V. Brown Library’s board of directors, the group celebrated the $57,000 given to the Library in 2024. The Friends of the James V. Brown Library was established in 1956 by Robert P. Henry, a trade union worker who wanted to raise funds to renovate the Library. Since then, the Friends group has grown from several community members to nearly 500 members who annually volunteer their time and talents to support the Library.
