Ice and Spice Weekend coming to Tioga County

Wellsboro is celebrating winter with Ice and Spice Weekend. According to a news release, next Saturday, Feb. 8, is Ice and Spice Weekend. Love will be in the air in downtown Wellsboro. Seven different ice sculptures symbolizing love and romance carved from 19 blocks of ice weighing 300 pounds apiece or 2.85 tons will be on display on sidewalks in front of Main Street businesses. Kyle Soltis, Eli Novak and Freddy Grosser will transport the ice from Elegant Ice to Wellsboro and assemble five of the seven ice sculptures. Book review at library to examine Christiana riot

Friends of the JV Brown Library will present a book review with Dr. Keith Shenberger from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m., Feb. 7 in the Lowry Room on the third floor of the library’s Welch Family Wing. Shenberger will review Bloody Dawn —the Christiana Riot and Racial Violence in the Antebellum North by Thomas P. Slaughter, according to a news release. The Lycoming College Art Gallery’s first show of the year will pay tribute to retiring President Kent Trachte and his wife, Sharon Trachte, with a special art exhibition featuring works from alumni who have been inspired and supported by the Trachtes’ vision and leadership during their tenure at Lycoming.
