Evicted tenant left apartment “a complete disaster”
Upon being evicted from his apartment at 734 Diamond St. in the city’s Newberry neighborhood, Gregory Shateese Brown warned his landlord in a text message that if he did not get his deposit back, the landlord will be “walking into a shell,” it was stated in an affidavit, Brown, 34, left the apartment in a state that city police termed in the criminal complaint “a complete disaster.” It is alleged that Brown, a homeless man from Philadelphia currently on probation in Delaware County, “removed” drywall from the wall, tore up sections of the floor and broke numerous heating units, resulting in an estimated $27,000 damage, police alleged. Following his arraignment Friday before Frey on one felony count of criminal mischief, Brown was jailed in lieu of $50,000 bail.
