Homeless man faces new set of charges after violating bail condition
Eleven days after being arrested on city police charges of allegedly assaulting and threatening his wife, Michael J. Tallman, who is homeless, was released from the Lycoming County Prison on March 18 on $10,000 bail with the stipulation that have no contact whatsoever with his wife, according to court records. However, Tallman, 40, is alleged to have violated that bail condition on March 23 when he went to a home in the 1200 block of West Fourth Street in an attempt to get to his wife, knowing that she was at the property, police said. Tallman’s actions forced the woman to flee the residence, police were told. Police took Tallman, who was visibly intoxicated, into custody on charges of intimidation of a witness, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. Arraigned before District Judge Denise Dieter, Tallman, who has since waived his preliminary hearing in this case, remains incarcerated in lieu of $50,000 bail. In the original case stemming from the March 7 domestic disturbance in which he was charged with terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment, Tallman waived his preliminary hearing on these charges on March 25.
