Williamsport police were looking for the woman who fled the scene on foot after her 2013 Dodge Durango crashed and overturned at Via Bella and Hepburn Street about 12:30 p.m. Thursday. A woman sitting in her car waiting for the red traffic light to change said she first heard noise “like trees breaking” and saw that the Durango, which was heading westbound on Via Bella, had already traveled first across a small paved island, then the eastbound lane and up a small embankment. The SUV came through the intersection and then “it rolled,” the witness, who did not want her name published, said. “I opened her door for her and she said she could get out,” the witness added. “I tried to get her to stay on the ground. She kept saying ‘I got to look for my friend. I got to look for my friend.’ I opened up all the car doors, but there was no one else in the vehicle. She then took off,” the witness said. City firefighters also responded to the crash.
