Two charged with contraband in separate cases

When Naceem Campfield was taken into custody by city police on drug charges at First and Memorial avenues about 10 p.m. on Feb. 18, was repeatedly warned to surrender any narcotics on him before he entered the county prison, according to an affidavit. Officers had already seized a bag of suspected marijuana from him, police said. Campfield, who also goes by “Seem” and initially gave authorities a false identification, denied having any other drugs on him, it was alleged in the court document. However, a corrections officer seized half a Xanax pill from him during a strip-search, police said, adding that Campfield also swallowed a pill during the search. Later, when Campfield, formerly of Philadelphia and now living in Bristol, was transferred to the county’s pre-release center, an officer discovered he had another controlled substance on him, a Suboxone strip, police. Campfield has been arraigned before District Judge Christian Frey on two felony counts of contraband and one misdemeanor count each of tampering with evidence, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and false identification to law enforcement. He has waived her preliminary hearing and remains incarcerated in lieu of $10,000 bail.

In another case, when Ronald Christopher Scott, of 682 Second Ave., was jailed in the county prison on Feb. 11 on a probation violation, the 40-year-old man had in his possession an ecstasy tablet, it was alleged in an affidavit filed by a detective assigned to the county’s Narcotic Enforcement Unit. Scott has since been charged with possession of a controlled substance and taking contraband into the prison at 277 W. Third St., a felony, investigators said. Hre has waived his preliminary hearing and is now free on $25,000 bail.
