Williamsport firefighters respond to garbage truck fire
Williamsport firefighters were dispatched to the Harvest Moon parking lot at West Third and Arch streets just before 8 a.m. Tuesday when a fire broke out in the back of a garbage truck. Heavy smoke was pouring from the back of the vehicle when they arrived on the scene. The entire truck’s load of garbage had to be off-loaded so firefighters could put out the fire. The cause of the fire was undetermined. The garbage was loaded into a portable dumpster and hauled away. The fire was contained to the trash itself and did not damage the truck, firefighters officials said.
