Cogan Station man locked up on terroristic threat, assault charges

A Cogan Station man remains behind bars after he allegedly threatened to kill a female acquaintance and her family, according to court documents.

The alleged victim and Robert J. Jeirles, 49, of 1521 Pleasant Hill Road, were in a verbal argument, during which he allegedly stated, “you have all the time in the world to talk me into being nice, and it’s not happening. Well, too bad, you don’t have to expletive talk to me,” she told Lycoming Regional police.

Jeriles then allegedly retrieved a large kitchen knife and menacingly approached the alleged victim.

“You don’t want to expletive talk to me? Do you want me to cut your expletive throat,” he allegedly said, before removing all of the cameras from the residence.

A brief chase ensued through the kitchen, during which Jeriles allegedly threatened to kill the alleged victim and her family, authorities said.

Later that day, as the alleged victim was on her way home when she received roughly 15 text messages from Jeriles asking her where she was going. She then spotted Jeriles following her, at which point, she called 911 and drove straight to the police station.

Jeriles parked beside the alleged victim, however he fled as officers approached. He then made several phone calls to the alleged victim asking her what she was doing there. She attempted to persuade him to come to the station, but he refused, allegedly stating that he would be waiting for them in the air conditioning.

Jeriles initially refused to surrender himself to officers, relating that he was not coming out alive or going back to jail. Police then entered the home and took Jeriles into custody.

He was arraigned on charges of making terroristic threats, simple assault, harassment and operating a vehicle without an ignition interlock system by District Judge William Solomon and remanded to the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Starting at $2.99/week.
