Trout Run man charged with theft

Williamsport Police have charged Donald L. Frankhouser, 76, of 521 Chapman Road, Trout Run, with theft by unlawful taking after he allegedly unlawfully took possession of a vehicle that he had made a monetary agreement for repayment with an alleged victim, according to an affidavit.
Frankhouser gave the alleged victim $3,100 in order to purchase the 2001 Subaru Forester in November, with the understanding that she would pay $600 a month to Frankhouser until the balance was fully paid, the alleged victim told police, an affidavit said.
The alleged victim’s name is the sole person listed on the vehicle’s registration and title.
In February of this year, however, Frankhouser boxed the car in, called a tow truck to the residence and had it removed, authorities allege.
No company name was visible on the white tow truck, the alleged victim told police, and no records could be found of any towing company having repossessed the vehicle within the Lycoming County Communication Center, an affidavit said.
Frankhouser allegedly refused to speak with police on the matter or disclose the vehicle’s whereabouts.
Arraigned by District Judge Denise Dieter, Frankhouser was released on $15,000 bail.
