Ex-parole agent sentenced for relationship with inmate at SCI Muncy

MUNCY — A former parole agent at the State Correctional Institution at Muncy has been sentenced to prison for having sex with an inmate.

Kenneth E. Jones, 30, of Lewisburg, will serve a sentence of 11½ months to two years minus a day in the Lycoming County Prison, according to a report at PennLive.com.

County Judge Ryan M. Tira made him eligible for the pre-release center, PennLive.com reported. He will be on probation for three years when he completes his prison term and must register as a sex offender for 15 years.

The sentence is in accordance with the plea agreement reached on May 2, in which Jones pleaded guilty to 19 counts of institutional sexual assault.

Tira prohibited Jones from having any contact with the victim, Miranda Barbour, who has a civil suit in the U.S. Middle District Court against him and 11 other current or former staff members at the Muncy prison. Barbour is serving a life sentence, as is her husband, Elytte, in a men’s prison for a 2013 Sunbury homicide.

According to PennLive.com, an investigation that led to the charges was launched after the inmate disclosed the sexual relationship to the prison superintendent.

Starting at $2.99/week.
