All charges dismissed in one case, some dropped in another in Lycoming County district courts
Due to a lack of evidence, all criminal charges have been dismissed against Quaheem Dontae Barnes following a recent preliminary hearing before District Judge Aaron Biichle. The judge threw out charges of simple assault, terroristic threats, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia that were all filed following a domestic disturbance with his girlfriend at a home on Fourth Avenue on July 18.
In another criminal case, city police dropped three of four charges against 66-year John Holohan, of 809 Poplar St, following recent proceedings before District Judge Christian Frey. Police withdrew two counts of simple assault and one count of endangering the welfare of a child while Holohan waived his preliminary hearing on the one remaining misdemeanor charge of recklessly endangering another person. The charges stem from Holohan allegedly firing a handgun into the ceiling inside his home during a domestic disturbance on July 28, police said in an affidavit. No one was injured in the shooting. Holohan is free on $15,000 bail.
In other criminal matters handled at area district judges’ offices, three people in separate state police cases pled guilty to the misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana, according to court records.
Gary W. Richards Jr., 21, of 95 Upper Manor Road, who was charged following an incident on Route 220 in Woodward Township on July 8, made arrangements to pay $447 in fines and court costs. Emanuel Perez, 30, of Elmira, New York, who was charged in connection with an incident on Interstate 180 in Muncy Creek Township on June 26, was fined $347. David James Fougere Jr., 34, of Mechanicsburg, charged on Interstate 180 in Fairfield Township on May 17, made arrangements to pay a $300 fine plus court costs.
