Domestic disturbance lands Shrewsbury Township man in jail
A domestic disturbance between Philip Lee Ruiz and a woman inside the couple’s Shrewsbury Township home at 12131 Route 220 about 11 p.m. on Oct. 19 turned violent when Ruiz punched her “in the head and head and face multiple times,” state police alleged in an affidavit. “I could just shoot you right now,” he told the woman, police said. As she fell to the floor, the woman hit her head on a kitchen table, police were told. When troopers arrived on the scene, Ruiz, 42, was taken into custody immediately as they saw “swelling about the right side of the victim’s face,” the court document stated. It was alleged that Ruiz also bit one of her fingers, police said. Arraigned hours later before District Judge William Solomon on charges of terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment, Ruiz remains jailed in the Lycoming County Prison in lieu of $35,000 bail.
